Overview
Just as we are experiencing a technology revolution, so is music tilting towards global relevance and this is all thanks to the improvisation of tech. Undoubtedly African artists are dominating the music scene both in Africa and globally with groundbreaking streaming numbers, major collaborations and award recognitions.
Afro Shuffle is a magazine-style programme that highlights African artists shaping today’s music scene. Each season features a curated playlist spotlighting artists pushing creative boundaries both locally and globally.
When tasked with building the brand, the goal was to create a narrative that captured the dynamic spirit of the music — a blend of the familiar and the unexpected. At the same time, the identity needed to carry the vibrant energy of its parent brand, Africa Tech Radio. Striking a balance between familiarity and novelty was key. The brand had to feel bold, youthful, and full of life, while still aligning with the tone of the larger ecosystem. Flexibility was key — the identity needed to work seamlessly across platforms, from digital and social to print.
The resulting identity achieves all these objectives. It embodies the essence of Afro Shuffle with a vibrant look that is striking, energetic and familiar (in context of the mother brand). Most notably, it thrives in digital applications, where motion has been thoughtfully used to enhance the overall brand language.
